Grown Man Sues Date Who Wouldn’t Stop Texting In ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’

There’s being petty, and then there’s the ticked off bloke in America who is literally suing his date after she wouldn’t stop texting during ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2‘.

Brandon Vezmar, a 37-year-old grown human from the state of Texas, is seeking the price of the 3D screening ticket (US $17.31, or a little over AU $23) in damages.

He filed a claim to the small claims court in Travis County on Thursday, which said that his date began texting about 15 minutes after the movie began, checking her phone “at least 10–20 times in 15 minutes” to read and send messages.

“It was a first date from hell,” he said. “This is like one of my biggest pet peeves.”

Vezmar said that he asked his date to stop, and when she didn’t, he asked her to take it outside. So she did, leaving the theatre, getting in her car, and driving to her house, denying Vezmar both the pleasure of her company and his ride home.

Local paper The Statesmen got in contact with the woman, who asked not to be named.

“Oh my god, this is crazy,” she said. “I had my phone low and I wasn’t bothering anybody … It wasn’t like constant texting.”

She said Vezmar had texted her (of all things) a few days later to asking for the money for the ticket, but she refused, on the grounds that “he took me out on a date”.

She’s now planning to file a protective order against Vezmar after he texted her younger sister also asking for the money.

It’s not clear HOW Vezmar had her sister’s number, given this was a first date and the pair had met online, but maybe there’s a logical explanation. Then again, a man is suing his date for the price of a movie ticket, so in all likelihood there’s no logic, rhyme or reason to any of this and Kim Jong-un should just hurry up with the nukes already.
