Absolute Legend Gary Rohan Will Return To The Footy Field This Friday

Sydney Swans player and brand new dad Gary Rohan will be returning to the field just a week after the birth of his beautiful twin girls.

According to the Swans’ official page, Gary will be one of two changes to the team when they take on Adelaide on Friday at the SCG. Defender Harry Marsh will also join the team.

Coach John Longmire said of Gary’s return, “The whole football community really supported Gary and Amie last week which was fantastic.”

In last week’s match, the Swans wore black and white armbands to support their teammate.

Last year, Gary and wife Amie announced they were pregnant with twins but in that same announcement they also confirmed one of the twins had been diagnosed with anencephaly. This diagnosis means a large portion of the baby’s brain, scalp, and skull does not fully develop inside the womb. Babies born with the brain defect die moments to a few hours after their first breath.

Amie and Gary have shown exceptional strength since announcing the diagnosis. Together, they have been open about their little family and encouraged parents in similar circumstances to reach out and raise awareness for the condition.

Last Thursday, Amie gave birth to Bella Rae and Willow Nevaeh just a few weeks before they were due. Willow, who had developed the brain defect passed away five hours later. Bella is currently in NICU nursery at the Royal Hospital for Women in Sydney but Gary has let his followers know she’s doing “very well”.

Since then, Gary has taken time away from the field to grieve as well as welcome his new daughter into the world. Someone, we have all been swooning over as the proud as punch parents share little snippets with their followers.

In one Instagram post Amie wrote,

“Bella my darling girl, you make me strong! And Willow my little angel, you make me even stronger.”

In another Amie posted a picture of Bella to celebrate her and her sister’s one week birthday.

“Whenever I have my moments these little outbursts of emotion, I come and see you my little Bella Rae and everything is made better again.”

Amie’s Instagram story has a very adorable recording of little Bella with the hiccups while papa opted for an immensely sweet picture.

Wishing the Rohan’s all the very best.
