Fox Plans Family Guy Crossover Episode With The Simpsons

In an attempt to calm the war of Simpsons vs. Family Guy devotees, FOX has revealed that there will be a crossover episode airing next year where the Simpsons and Griffins will officially meet and finally settle their differences.

Entertainment Weekly got their hands on a synopsis of the upcoming episode, which reportedly will see “Peter and the rest of the Griffins embark on a road trip and wind up in Springfield. There, they cross paths with Homer, who graciously greets his new “albino” visitors, and the two families become fast friends. Stewie is impressed with Bart and his assortment of pranks, Lisa tries to figure out exactly what it is that she’s good at, and Marge and Lois do some bonding. Meanwhile, Peter and Homer argue over which beer is better: Pawtucket or Duff.”

A crossover episode smells suspiciously like jumping the shark—despite the extensive history of networks lending their characters to new TV homes in brief episodes, “I wish there were more crossover episodes” is still a phrase said by no one ever.

Perhaps this time, FOX will buck the usual danger of attempting to throw conflicting plots and personalities in one show to kill two birds with one stone, and maybe it won’t be a lackluster and completely unmemorable foray as it has been in the past. After all, The Simpsons and the Griffins share similar tastes; the humour they both reach for is fairly aligned, separated only by their proud niches and iconic characters.

Homer already made a cameo in a season 11 episode of Family Guy (watch below), and Family Guy creator Seth Macfarlane played a guest role in The Simpson’s 24th season finale. This crossover is so crazy it might just work.
