While the 2019 Federal Election might have seen the exit of the likes of Fraser Anning and Tony Abbott, One Nation’s Malcolm Roberts — beating the odds — managed to steadfastly cling to the rim of the toilet bowl, absolutely refusing to be flushed. It’s not for me to guess how you felt about this development, but I can tell you one thing: Victorian MP Fiona Patten wasn’t all too happy about it.
Patten, leader of the Reason Party (which you might know by its old name, the Australian Sex Party), issued a quite curt press release this afternoon, making it quite clear how she felt about all of this:
Reason Leader and Member for Northern Metropolitan, Fiona Patten has today given her first comments in relation to the pending return to the Senate of One Nation’s Malcolm Roberts.
“You’re f***ing kidding me right? I thought someone was having a joke with me! Not that climate-change denying, weirdo, conspiracy theorist.
“What a dick.”
Not a lot of ambiguity from Patten there, certainly. (Those asterisks are theirs, by the way. We’re allowed to say ‘fuck’ here. Fuck. There I said it again. Fuck. Fuck fuck fuck. Ass. Ass! Alright, I’m done.)
Greens senator Nick McKim responded with a similar sentiment, expressed even more economically than Patten, if you can believe that:
Yep, that’s about the size of it.
