I won’t lie I’m really not a fan of Fashion Bloggers, at least not the variety that post pictures of themselves. Here’s why – you have to be somewhat narcissistic to even do it in the first place, some of them look like they get dressed in the dark, and their comments section are a polarizing shitstorm of cynical douche bags (like myself) and sycophantic 12 year olds from Norway.
So while I can question their motives (internet fame) and style (some are truly heinous) what I can’t deny is the increasing influence these bloggers are wielding. Case in point Rumi of Fashion Toast who adorned Esteban Cortazar’s mood boards in the lead up to his latest collection for Emanuel Ungaro. As far as blogs go hers is perhaps the most polarizing with comments ranging from enamoured male admirers and budding fashionistas to spiteful bitches who think she’s a sluzz’n fame whore.
She writes: Some of you may have been wondering what exactly we came out here to Paris for..Esteban Cortazar, the genius behind Emanuel Ungaro, and I have been emailing for a couple months and he invited me to his show, which was obviously something I wasn’t going to turn down. It was a dream come true going to his studio for a fitting, especially when he had hand picked a selection of dresses that he thought I would like. It quickly became clear that we were going to get along perfectly – Esteban is as smart and witty as he is sweet. Meeting his team definitely became more surreal when a few people greeted me as the “girl from the mood board”. I was floored.
