So as I’m sure you’ve heard (or guessed by now), the Sydney Royal Easter show has been shut down by the almighty corona.
Is NOTHING sacred?
So some yearly traditions we unfortunately have to miss out on this year include:
- Woodchopping spectating
- The farmers grand display of fruit n’ veg
- Getting the sweats from your third deep fried Pringles on a stick
- Losing all of your money to a 14-year-old kid with a smug face and a large plush toy you thought you could win
- People watching (OMG the people watching)
- The smell of the farm animal section (OMG the smell of the farm animal section)
- Ditching your fam to meet your new boyfriend of ten days at the ferris wheel as soon as it gets dark
- An underwhelming ride on the ghost train
- Suddenly realising you’ve finally fully transformed into adulthood when you OPT for the cheese and wine section you hated as a child
But what we don’t have to say goodbye to are:
- Showbags
And thank god, because they are inarguably the best part. In fact, for the last few years I haven’t even been to the Easter Show, I just tell the homies to bring me back a few Showbags that I have carefully selected after a long and thorough read of the Showbag section of the newspaper.
