NSW Motorist Fined $337 After Being Caught Watching ‘MAFS’ While Driving

We’ve all had to rush off from work or wherever in order to get home in time for our stories, but this is breaking new ground even we didn’t think possible before.

NSW Police have handed down a fine to a driver near Sydney who was caught driving while… well… watching MAFS.

The offending motorist was pinged on the M1 near Sydney earlier this week with their phone securely strapped into a holder and very much tuned into the drama, by god the DRAMA.

How’s that! Tissues at the ready and everything in case it all goes to hell.

That setup is utterly insane for a raft of reasons, chief of which being that given that’s a Nine watermark and not a Nine Now one, they were watching the show live. Have they not been told of the existence of catch-up? Was there not a cruddy DVR or VHS recorder to be found in this hour of apparent dire need? Were they literally on their way to some sort of post-MAFS catch-up where knowledge of the most recent episode was of critical importance?

Whatever the case, keeping up with Nine’s nightly wild show cost them dearly: a $337 fine and 3 demerit points for driving with a TV or VDU image visible, to be exact.

There’s a lesson in this, kids. A very obvious, common sense lesson.
