‘Dear White People’ Trailer Is Here To Challenge Racial Stereotypes In Film And Chew Gum; Is All Out Of Gum

Darling of the Sundance Film Festival and recipient of the Special Jury Award for Breakthrough Talent, Dear White People is a satirical film that has the balls to ask a few hard questions of the entertainment industry without pretending to know any of the answers.

The first trailer for the film has finally dropped, and it’s freaking hilarious and great. Ripping on everything from The Help to Gremlins to Every Shitty Film Tyler Perry’s Ever Made, Dear White People centres around a group of black students at an Ivy League college where a riot breaks out over an “African American” themed party thrown by a bunch of white students.
The film was originally written by Justin Simien – who also directed the film – and went through a wildly successful crowdfunding campaign on IndieGoGo, and will see a limited theatrical release in the US this coming Spring. When it makes it to Australian screens is yet to be seen, but suffice to say it’s in your best interests to keep an eye out for it.
