The teaser for Justin Simien‘s forthcoming satirical feature Dear White People stirred up more than its fair share of chatter, largely due to the questions it asks of the representations of black people in the greater media.
Now we’ve got ourselves a proper, longer look at the film in the form of this trailer, and beyond the fact that it does indeed look to be pretty, pretty damned funny, it also looks like being a rather smart, sharp look at racial politics.
The film was funded through an IndieGoGo crowdsourcing campaign, and received a big ole’ fashioned bundle of kudos during its run at the Sundance Film Festival.
It’s scheduled for a US release in October. There’s still no word on if it’ll make cinema screen out here, but keep your ears and eyes peeled and to the ground.
