The Body Of A Missing Person Was Found Inside A Dinosaur Statue In Spain & We Have Questions

body found in dinosaur statue spain

A body of a missing person was just found in a dinosaur statue in Spain and what the actual, prehistoric, fossil fuck. I have so many questions.

According to The Guardian, police in Catalonia are looking into the death of a 39-year-old man who they believe climbed head-first into a paper-mache stegosaurus statue in the Barcelona suburb of Santa Coloma de Gramenet in search of his mobile phone. The man, who may have spent literal days there, was found inside the prehistoric figure’s leg by a passing father and son.

Wow, try explaining THAT to your kids? This entire story is triggering my claustrophobia and fear of randonautica, so, uh, thanks Spain. People really walked past this dinosaur statue for days (DAYS, I tell you) while a man was inside it? Imagine going to the Australian Reptile Park and finding a dead man’s body in the giant frill neck lizard statue at the entrance? I’m sorry, I need to sit down for this.

While the story itself is nearly unbelievable, authorities said they aren’t treating the death itself as suspicious.

“We found the body of a man inside the leg of this dinosaur statue,” a spokeswoman for the regional police force, Mossos d’Esquardo, said via The Guardian. “It’s an accidental death; there was no violence.

“This person got inside the statue’s leg and got trapped. It looks as though he was trying to retrieve a mobile phone, which he’d dropped. It looks like he entered the statue head first and couldn’t get out.

“We’re still waiting for the autopsy results, so we don’t know how long he was in there, but it seems he was there for a couple of days,” she added.

D’Esquardo added that firefighters have been called in to help cut into the statue to remove the body. A missing persons report had been filed mere hours before his body was found.
