Senator Cory Bernardi seems to be the kind of bloke who is powered by his own convictions. Convictions that have calcified over years of politicking. Convictions that don’t require the agreement, nor the approval, of the general voting public.
That’s what makes his latest Tweet so interesting, because if we ignore the (obvious and heavy-handed) rhetorical nature of it all, he seems to be asking his audience for their opinion on the brawls that rolled through Melbourne and Sydney last night.
Wonder what the common denominator is in the Sydney & Melb gang brawls. Any ideas?

We could take some solid guesses to the answer the dude had cooked up in his own head.
Then again, his accommodating Twitter followers thought they should just humour him and answer the bloody question, some tongue-in-cheek, some dead serious:
@corybernardi dudes

@corybernardi Drugs, money, alcohol, women, turf/territory, guns, control, low IQs, mothers didn’t breast feed them, politics? How’s that?

@corybernardi men, jealousy, testosterone & alcohol. What would u suggest?

.@corybernardi Poverty & a lack of hope for the future, thanks to the bastard #LNP government?

Welp, there you go – there are actually stacks of reasons a throng of dickheads would decide to punch on in Australia’s CBDs.
However, some intrepid social media denizens decided it really would be best for everyone if Bernardi spoke on the root of this gosh-darn gang violence:
.@corybernardi Hi Cory, as a straight-talkin’ common sense guy why don’t you just tell us? And offer a solution?
— Scott Bridges (@s_bridges) March 13, 2016
@corybernardi I’m sure you have a theory, cup cake. Who are you going to denigrate this time?
— Clare ?? (@claregarry6) March 13, 2016
@corybernardi tell us, Cory, what you think:

The senator has yet to respond. Maybe, just maybe, he didn’t want to hear the opinions of others, after all.
