Chuck Your Support Behind Marriage Equality With FB’s Newest Photo Filter

COOL THING: Facebook is this year jumping on board to be a major partner of the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras for the very first time.

COOLER THING: The social media megalith is helping Australians, and everyone, show their support for marriage equality in a very visible way.
Starting today, you’re all now able to put a photo filter over your profile picture that’ll slap a pro-marriage equality frame over the image and let your friends and feed know exactly where you stand on the issue.
The custom frame feature works similarly to the rainbow filter of yore, and is a collaboration between Facebook, and the Australian Marriage Equality organisation.
Statistics have shown that not only is same-sex marriage the eleventh most-talked about subject in Australia last year, but that big events pertaining to the ongoing fight for LGBTQI rights coincides with a spike in people coming out on Facebook, which highlights the vitally important role that social media integration plays in the support of the LGBTQI community – particularly with young people struggling with their sexuality.
The filter can be accessed by visiting this post on the Australian Marriage Equality Facebook page, and rapping that “Try It” button.
Alternatively, you can get the filter by visiting a friend’s photo who already has the frame applied.
Show your support, and #ShareTheLove!
