Michelle Obama Honours Beyoncé With Flawless ‘Formation’ B-Day Tribute

Beyoncé’s 36th birthday was obviously cause for celebration – see the festival crowd spurred into singing Happy Birthday by husband JAY-Z – but it takes a pretty special personal milestone to elicit a bona fide tribute from the former First Lady of the United States.

Yet, here we are. The most prominent figure in pop music has received a perfect homage from none other than Michelle Obama.

As part of a portrait series emulating Bey’s get-up from the game-changing Formation video clip, longtime pal Obama donned a wide-brimmed hat and lush braids to reference the singer’s greatness.

The shot appeared on Bey’s website as an apparent surprise gift to the singer, and they feature a few other characters you may have heard of. Her daughter Blue Ivy does a pretty good job of emulating ma:

Bey’s Destiny’s Child comrades Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams do a pretty decent job:

Absolute gun and Formation co-star Serena Williams makes an appearance:

Same goes for Bey’s mother Tina Knowles Lawson, and JAY-Z’s ma Gloria Carter:

All of this adulation has another purpose, too. A link to the BeyGood fundraising initiative is plastered at the top of the site, encouraging looky-loos to donate some funds to Houston relief efforts. We imagine the spectacle of it all oughta draw a few eyes, and if you feel compelled by it all – Michelle fkn Obama! – you can contribute right HERE.
