Former NRL gun Alex McKinnon and his wife, primary school teacher Teigan McKinnon, have welcomed a healthy baby girl into the world – one year to the day after they tied the knot.
Taking to Instagram today, the ex-Newcastle Knights gun shared the very joyous news of Harriet Anne McKinnon‘s arrival yesterday arvo. Luckily for us all, he also shared a slew of pics.
Behold, mum, dad, and precious bub:
And one more for good measure:
The arrival comes four and a half years after McKinnon was diagnosed as a quadriplegic, following a devastating tackle during a game against the Melbourne Storm.
McKinnon proposed to his partner just a week after sustaining the injury. Gruelling rehabilitation followed, leading to one of the sweeter moments imaginable: at the ceremony, McKinnon stood to exchange vows with his high school sweetheart.

The duo had been open about their wishes to start a family, and the difficulties presented by McKinnon’s injury.
Speaking to New Idea in 2015, the father-to-be said “It will definitely be happening.
“Teigan loves kids, I’ve never seen anyone so natural around them, so I’m sure we’ll be having a few.”
Teigan added that a fertility expert spoke about the couple’s “great chance” of adding another member to the ranks.
And here we are. Congrats, gang.
