Aboriginal Ranger Taken By Crocodile In Remote Northern Territory

A ranger has been taken by a crocodile in remote Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory. 

The female Aboriginal ranger was taken by the crocodile at Gan Gan at approximately 10:00am this morning.

In a statement NT Work said they had been notified that: “a female Aboriginal ranger has been taken by a crocodile approximately 206km south west of Yirrakala. 

“NT Worksafe has commenced an investigation into the incident.”

According to the ABCpolice from both the Nhulunbuy and Lake Evella stations are travelling to the scene of the incident – a Gan Gan outstation in East Arnhem – by road and boat.

The Yirralka Rangers program, operated by the Laynhapuy Homelands Aboriginal Corporation, first reported the incident to authorities.

The ABC reports that police do not know the identity or condition of the ranger.
