A ‘Big Bang Theory’ Spinoff About 12 Y.O. Sheldon Is Regrettably On The Way

Yep. It’s happening.
A spin-off of ‘Big Bang Theory’ has finally passed through the layers of producers and television executives it takes to greenlight a television series, and somehow all of them said, ‘Yes, this is an extremely good idea. Let’s do it!’. Who are these people, you ask? Well, I daresay they’re probably Satan’s minions. Satan’s actual minions.
The new show will centre on Sheldon Cooper as a 12-year-old, due to the fact that many of the characters quips are about his childhood.
Jim Parsons reckons the decision to do it was a no-brainer (clearly):
“[The writers] have done, from the beginning, such a good job of building such a history and a layered nature to all these characters.

It just seems like a really wasted opportunity if you don’t decide to explore the origin story with that.

I mean, they’ve layered so many things in there over the past decade that is already there to be drawn from.

I’m really excited about it. I think it will be very different than Big Bang, but in a good way.”
Viewers will get to see a young Sheldon growing up on a farm in Texas with a “colourful” family.
Obviously the show will have a new face as Sheldon, but Parsons will be an executive producer on the spin-off. He told the future Yung Sheldon™:

“I would advise that actor to watch me as little as possible, and take that thing by the horns, and make it your own.”
Hmm… probably best to familiarise yourself at least a little bit though, if you’re playing a written character in another time period. Continuity is a thing, y’know?
There’s no word on when the show will be hitting screens, but we’ll keep you updated.
