46 Sweet Doggos Fly To NYC For New Life After Rescue From Dog Meat Farm

46 dogs arrived in New York this weekend after being rescued from a dog meat farm in South Korea by the Humane Society International.
Kelly O’Meara, who is in charge of the Humane Society’s international projects, described the farm as “more like a dungeon“:
“There’s very little light, little to no ventilation, so the stench of ammonia would bring tears to your eyes when you walk through.

“You’d see eyes peering at you, but it was hard to actually see the dogs themselves in the dark.”
The dogs were transferred to emergency shelters in New York, Maryland and Pennsylvania after touching down at JFK Airport and will be given medical and behavioural checks before being put up for adoption.
Have a look at these adorable, brave pups:

The Humane Society estimates there are about 17,000 meat farms left in South Korea, with the numbers dropping as the demand for dog meat diminishes. Meat from about two million dogs is still eaten every year.
Roughly 800 dogs have been rescued by the Humane Society since 2015 and they are currently working with a number of farms to end the practice and help the owners transition to other forms of income.
