Three Australians have been confirmed injured in the terrorist attack in Barcelona, Foreign Minister Julie Bishop confirmed, but warned there could be more.

The confirmed injured includes one woman from NSW, who is in a serious but stable condition, and two men from Victoria.

Speaking to media, Bishop said:

“The matter is unfolding. According to our ambassador, reports are coming in constantly. We are in constant contact with the authorities. There could be more, but at this stage, we know that there are multiple nationalities involved amongst those who were killed and those who were injured.

“I can report that one Australian woman, believed to be from New South Wales, is in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

“Two young Australian men have advised us that they were directly affected. They have gone back to their hotel and they will seek medical treatment in the morning.”

At least 13 people are dead and dozens injured after a van plowed in to the popular Las Ramblas boulevard in Barcelona earlier today. Catalona‘s interior minister Joaquim Forn confirmed the incident is being treated as an act of terrorism.

Two men have been arrested in connection to the attack, including one named as Driss Oukabir, a 28-year-old Moroccan national. The second man has yet to be identified.
