2 Men Traveling To Listen Out Sydney Hospitalised After Suspected Overdoses

Two men in their 20s are in serious conditions after suffering suspected overdoses on the way to Sydney’s leg of the Listen Out festival.

The men were on a bus to the fest at around 3pm when they fell unconscious. At that point, emergency services were notified of their condition. Both were taken to Westmead Hospital.

While few other details are currently available, NSW Police say it’s likely their illness was caused by the ingestion of some kind of “substance.”
Earlier, NSW Police issued a statement re-affirming their use of sniffer dogs at the Centennial Park event, and urged punters not to bring illicit drugs onto the premises. Listen Out itself warned it was expecting “sniffer dogs and about a million police.”
So far, the authorities have already clocked 30 counts of drug possession at the fest, along with a small handful of counts involving drug supply. For reference, 114 people were arrested for possession at last year’s outing.
We’ll update this story as it develops.
