Shocking news emerging from Japan this morning, with word filtering through that 19 people are dead, and at least a further 45 have been injured in a mass-stabbing attack at a disabled care facility outside of Tokyo.
Police were called to the Tsukui Yamayuri Garden facility shortly after 2:30am local time where they reportedly encountered the extremely grim scene.
Of the wounded, it’s believed at least 20 are in critical condition.
A 20-year-old man, who early reports suggest may have worked at the facility, later turned himself in to police and stated “I did it” before being arrested.
The facility lies in Sagamihara, Kanagawa Prefecture, around 50km west of Tokyo.
Police are currently investigating the motive for the attack.
