Ye Sued By Hungarian Rock Star Over Claims He Jacked Sample On “New Slaves”

It happened to Led Zeppelin, it happened to Robin Thicke and Pharell, and now it’s happening to Ye.

Kanye is being sued over allegations he sampled a Hungarian pop song on “Yeezus” without permission from the artist.
Gabor Presser is seeking $2.5m in damages on the grounds that Kanye jacked a sample from his 1969 (lol) song “Gyöngyhajú lány” for the track “New Slaves” without Presser giving him the go ahead.
Presser says he was sent a cheque for $10,000 and given 24 hours to respond to the email seeking permission, but never granted it and never cashed the cheque.
Presser wrote the song during his time in the band Omega, and says it was one of Hungary’s most beloved pop songs. If you’re somehow not an afficianado of Hungarian pop music and you’ve not heard it before, listen to it here:
A judge has ruled that there’s enough similarity in the songs for the case to go ahead, so let’s see how this pans out.
