World Premiere: Ghoul – “Lodum (Rising)”

Their mini album Dunks was released in February (purchase here) but as frontman Ivan Vizintin explains, Ghoul are on Walter White levels of productivity right now: “We’ve written about 40 demos and culled them down back to 14. And we’re in the middle of finishing those off,”. One such track is “Lodum (Rising)”, released today to celebrate the Sydney quartet’s forthcoming performance at Splendour In Grass and national tour in support of DJ Shadow. On first listen Lodum is the band’s most Radiohead indebted jam yet; soothing, spry and full of achingly drawn out “tooonnniiiggghhhtttts” “ddeeellliiigggghhhtttss”. We like. If the calibre of songs used to spruik festival slots is any indication, their longplayer proper should be a masterpiece. We have the world premiere below…

Ghoul’s full length debut is slated for release early 2012 via Speak N Spell/Inertia. Their mini-album Dunks is out now (purchase here).
