La Blogothèque‘s ‘Take Away Show’ series has been one of those solid, ceaselessly on-point internet curiosities for about six years, now. Artists like Bon Iver, Phoenix, Run The Jewels, Beirut, Father John Misty, Arcade Fire, Sigur Rós, Local Natives—and literally dozens more—have all recorded their rawest performances with improvised ‘Take Away Shows’: one-take acoustic performances where the street (or elevators, in Arcade Fire’s case) is their stage, and their audience is often made up of unassuming pedestrians.
They’re often blurry, fuzzy, or filmed in shaky hands. But they’re always bloody beautiful.
Back in 2013, before local legend Courtney Barnett was BIG big, La Blogothèque recorded touching live performances of ‘Avant Gardener’ and ‘Out Of The Woodwork‘. Today, The Youtube-based series has released another C Barnz gem to soar your TGIF joy to even loftier heights, with an absolutely stunning solo performance of ‘Depreston’, shot in a Paris alleyway.
