The twerk which stopped the world is still generating headlines. We’ve done the hard twerk for you, and rounded up all the stuff that still has people’s tongues wagging about Miley Cyrus‘ tongue-wagging performance.
– Miley’s dad Billy Ray Cyrus has responded to the uproar about his daughter’s racy performance, telling ET “She’s still my little girl and I’m still her Dad regardless how this circus we call show business plays out. I love her unconditionally and that will never change.”
Miley also tweeted a quote supposedly from her papa, which reminded us that images of gross middle-aged men gettin’ their twerk on are the stuff of nightmares.

– Justin Timberlake defended Miley’s performance on US radio station Hot 97: “She’s young, take it easy on her… It’s the VMAs. You know what I mean, like, it’s not the Grammys. We’re talking about Madonna in a wedding dress humping the stage, we’re talking about Britney doing a striptease. This cycle is not uncommon.” Timberlake added, “If something like that doesn’t happen at the VMAs, I feel like it was boring.”
– Miley herself spoke out (sort of) about the event, bragging about her Tweet per minute (TPM) rate:
Smilers! My VMA performance had 306.000 tweets per minute. That’s more than the blackout or Superbowl! #fact.

She went on to tweet some pretty racy images, suggesting that the twerkcident was just one step in her Christina-to-Xtina style transformation.
– A new track from rapper Lil Twist featuring Miley and Justin Beiber titled (wait for it…) Twerk conveniently “leaked” today. “I came up in the party, time to twerk,” Miley squawks in the track which is, well, truly awful.
– In other collaboration news, the New York Post reports that Miley apparently skipped the VMA afterparty to head straight into the studio to work on some tracks with none other than fellow (but much more subtle) VMA performer Kanye West. According to the New York Post, “Cyrus will appear with West on a remix of ‘Black Skinhead,’ due to be part of a remix EP that will be released later this year.”
– Finally, “twerk” was added to the Oxford online dictionary. Ugh.
