Triple J Suspends ‘Like A Version’ Indefinitely In COVID-19’s Latest Hit On Aussie Music

For this first time in its 16-year history, Triple J has officially suspended ‘Like A Version’ indefinitely due to the ongoing COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

According to a statement released by Triple J this morning, the cover of The Weeknd recorded and broadcasted this morning from The Naked And Famous is set to be the last Friday cover session for the “foreseeable future”.

The Kite String Tangle was due to come into the studios this week to record his Like A Version, but because of the restrictions put in place by the ABC to help flatten the curve and stop the spread of the virus, he’ll now be locked in as the first cab off the rank when the guidelines are lifted.

But that doesn’t mean we won’t hear some kind of cover every Friday morning, on our commutes or while we’re having our first coffee, or still dragging out butts out of bed. Triple J will dive back into the archives – all 16 bloody years of it – to air some of the covers from years gone by.

We’ll let you know when our beloved Friday Like A Version sessions return, but until then, fingers crossed we’ll be greeted with a revisit of that one time Angus & Julia Stone covered Chumbawumb‘s Tubthumping.

Yep. That happened. 2007 was a wild time, mates.
