Go big or go home, right?
Brisbane band Cub Sport – whose Facebook page describes itself as a “dreamy indie-pop group” but we’ll be honest, we hadn’t heard of until this morning – appeared on Triple J this morning and took on the monster task of covering Kanye West‘s ‘Ultralight Beam‘ for ‘Like A Version‘.
And without meaning to go too ~nailed it~ on you, they did. Nailed it, we mean. Took the hammer and took the nail and fucking smashed that thing into the wood.
Have a listen to this A+ cover below:
The band told Matt and Alex afterwards that they figured out the harmonies while driving across the States, basically doing nothing else for a 12-hour car trip except sing to Yeezy, a-cappella style.
And holy hell did it pay off: Triple J presenter Zane Rowe tweeted that theirs’ was one of the best Like A Versions all year.
Wow. @cubsportmusic just smashed that Like a Version. Easily one of the best of the year.

And this, of course, is the highest of praises.
