The Vines’ Craig Nicholls Arrested After “Violent Rampage”

The Sydney Morning Herald has reported that sometimes unhinged The Vines’ Asperger’s diagnosed frontman Craig Nicholls was arrested Saturday night after assaulting his parents and injuring a police officer during a “violent rampage” at his family home in Connells Point in Sydney. The altercation happened at around midnight on Saturday night and is alleged to have involved the singer punching his mother in the head – twice – resisting arrest and being subdued by capsicum spray.

“He tried to evade police and [a] violent struggle ensued,” said Hurstville police officer Robert Duncan. “A police officer suffered grazes, cuts and bruises to both elbows and knees and was treated at St George Hospital,” he said.

Nicholls, whose parents have since taken out an AVO against him, was subsequently charged with two counts of domestic assault, stalking or intimidation, resisting arrest and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He is expected to appear in Sutherland Local Court tomorrow.
