Before they embark on a fortuitous American tour with fellow psych-merchants MGMT, Perth’s Tame Impala have a seven date jaunt around Australia to get outtathaway. The tour, in support of their debut LP Innerspeaker, kicked off last week in The Gold Coast and last Saturday saw the Gorilla Vs. Bear approved four-piece play a couple of shows in Sydney.
The shows have all been stellar but we want to draw particular attention to their set at The Metro Theatre in Sydney because aside from wowing everyone with their typically awesome mix of nostalgic riffage and psychy mind journeys the boys were joined live by The Vines frontman Craig Nicholls.
As Youtube user aaron2600 points out, the house lights came on and Tame Impala, support band The Silents and Craig Nicholls ran through the latter’s “Get Free” to a half empty room. As anyone who’s seen Tame Impala live will attest, the boys give good cover plus it’s good to know that Craig Nicholls is still alive and doing stuff. Check out the video below…
