The Strokes Debut New Track on SNL

And The Strokes won’t go away which is totally fine by us. First you heard thirty seconds from each track on their new LP Angles. Then you felt nostalgic while watching their new video which featured a mic stand javelin toss that harked back to their decade old “Last Nite” clip. And now the band have premiered a brand new track on the most recent episode of Saturday Night Live. Totally incongruous intro by Miley Cyrus by the way who was all of eight when Is This It first came out but whatever. New track is album closer “Life Is Simple In The Moonlight” and armed with the same muted pathos of say, Room On Fire’s “Under Control”, it’s a dewy-eyed ballad that lilts in the verses then hits its stride when Julian loosens those vocal chords in the chorus. They also played lead single “Under Cover Of Darkness” and Julian swore on live television, which, you know, he does from time to time. Check them out below…
