International pop sensation Taylor Swift has cancelled her upcoming performance at the Melbourne Cup next month due to conflicting schedules, KIIS 101.1 reports.
You might need to calm down if you were planning on attending next month’s racing event in the hopes to see Taylor Swift because a scheduling clash has prevented her from performing at the Melbourne Cup.

“Regrettably, Taylor is no longer able to make it to this year’s Melbourne Cup. Changes to her Asian promo schedule have made it logistically impossible for her to be here. To all of Taylor’s fans, we hope to see Taylor in Australia in 2020,” Mushroom Events Michael Gudinski said.
Swift was confirmed as the pre-Cup entertainment headliner on September 12 after rumours swirled of a possible Shawn Mendes x Camila Cabello performance. Shockingly, the performance wasn’t part of a wider Australian touring schedule, so she was planning on making the trek down under for the race that “stops the nation.”
The Lover artist was apparently booked to play *checks notes*, *scratches head*, *checks notes again* two songs at Flemington Racecourse on November 5.
Since the announcement, Swift received a tonne of backlash from her young fanbase, who largely don’t support horse racing and the animal cruelty involved in the event.

Victoria Racing Club CEO Neil Wilson has released a statement in regards to Taylor pulling the pin on the event, assuring race-goers that they’ll find a replacement for the pre-Cup entertainment as soon as possible. *cough* Shawn Mendes *cough*
“The VRC has learned that Taylor Swift is now unable to make the trip to Australia and therefore cannot be with us on Melbourne Cup Day. Obviously, this is disappointing for everyone. We understand how important the pre-Cup entertainment is and we look forward to providing an update shortly.”
We don’t have any information on the potential replacement for Swift, but I’m quietly confident we’ll be seeing a Shawn Mendes and Camilla Cabello announcement real soon.
