New York indie rockers THE WALKMEN have just released a track called “Stranded” from their fifth full length album Lisbon coming out in September. You can live stream it now from NPR.

American electronic-folk duo THE BOOKS have been creating music that is consistently challenging and unique since debut Thought for Food in 2002. Their latest long player The Way Out is no exception. It’s due out the end of the month but in the meantime give the entire album a listen at NPR.

BEST COAST is one of our favourite groups to come out of the summery, Sixties-inspired, girl group phenomenon coming from the Californian coastline at the moment (think also the Dum Dum Girls and Brooklyn trio the Vivian Girls). You can stream their debut LP Crazy For You in full at the Urban Outfitters blog.

Keeping with the chilled Cali vibes for a moment, LA chillwave-ish duo NITE JEWEL will release their first EP Am I Real? on 20 July and they’ve just put the title track on their website and myspace page. Super pretty stuff.

Calgary art-rock quartet WOMEN are bringing out their sophomore effort this year after their excellent 2008 self-titled debut. The lo-fi psych rock meets the Beach Boys sound was dubbed “Shitgaze”, but there’s nothing ‘shit’ about it. Here’s the first single “Eyesore”.
