New Interpol Video – “Barricade”

They may have lost Carlos Dengler (possibly to an acting career?) but Interpol 2.0 are still a lot like the Interpol we first loved back when Turn On The Bright Lights heralded a whole new era of Joy Division pastiche in the early 2000’s. “Barricade” is the second single from the band’s forthcoming self-titled release (their fourth studio LP to date) and features the same neurosis-infused non-sequiturs Banks conjures in his sleep (“Didn’t take to analysis, so I had to make up my mind“), Kessler’s jaunty yet melancholic guitar lines and Fogarino’s reliably propulsive stick work.

Though ostensibly a performance clip, Director Moh Azima mixes it up by projecting Banks’ stoic face on some bare female torsos, filming Fogarino and Kessler as they trade licks in some kind of luscious field and then yadda yadda yadda slow motion balloons!
