Spotify Premium Extends Free-Trial Period To 3 Months, So Time To Hulk-Smash The Play Button

Spotify Premium has extended its free trial period to 3-months… for those few, lonely souls who haven’t trialled Premium before.

The offer, which now matches Apple Music’s 3-month free trial, applies for the individual and students plans as of today, with 90-day free trial plans for the duo and family packages expected to come in a few months.

“Music and podcasts play an important role in people’s lives,” Spotify chief premium business officer Alex Norström said of the news, “so we wanted to give users the first 3 months for free to fully enjoy everything that Spotify Premium has to offer.”

“We know it takes time to fully experience all of the features available with Premium, so we’re giving people the time that they need to fall in love with Premium’s seamless listening experience and on-demand access to more than 50 million tracks, billions of playlists and 450,000 podcast titles for free.”

The free-trial period was originally a mere 30 days, so this subsequent tripling looks like an attempt to rival Apple Music’s offering. A competitive flex – we stan.

Real talk: this would’ve been a huge announcement if nearly every person I know hadn’t already trialled Premium. Oh well, I guess it’s time to create 8 new identities.

Tea.

Now Spotify, I’ma let you finish, but can you please put Hilary Duff’s “Metamorphosis” on the streaming app already? It’s time to give the people what they actually want.

Real priorities.

PLEASE.
