Over the weekend Gotye joined a handful of Australian artists to top the UK singles charts when “Somebody That I Used To Know” (no introduction necessary) hit the number one position. The Music Network reports that the single has, up to this point, reached #1 in Australia, New Zealand, Holland, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Ireland, Denmark and now the UK), and sits at #12 on the US Billboard chart.
After crushing the Australian market with the Hottest 100-topping, multi ARIA-winning song, the international presence of the Melbourne artist’s crossover hit has spurned a cover that went viral, as well as several parodies of that cover which have subsequently gone viral too (refer videos below).
