In shocking news we heard that Brisbane’s perpetually touring stadium rock stalwarts Powderfinger have announced their retirement.
Didn’t they retire about five years ago?
Brisbane mums are said to be devastated. To quote my own: “That Bernard Fanning is such a lovely boy… I know his mother.”
PS Virtually everyone in Brisbane is somehow connected to either Bernard Fanning or Quan from Regurgitator.
This does kind of represent the end of an era. Sure, Powderfinger aren’t considered mega ‘cool’, but they’ve been around since 1989 and you can scarcely walk into an Australian pub without hearing one of their tunes (and know all the words no less), which is testament to their popularity.
