Pitchfork’s Top 100 Tracks of 2009

Whether you love or loathe their snarky pictorial reviews and holier than thou elitism you have to admit – Pitchfork’s
annual top 100 list is a pretty handy blurb on the year in music. It’s zeitgeist capturing, eclectic and, whether it’s pop anthems or cerebral meditations on death, remarkably democratic.

Having said that this year’s top ten is pretty predictable and their number one is really, really, really fucking predictable but venture through track 50 onwards and the list is a great way to catch up on tunes that may have flown under your radar in 09 or a reminder of the tracks that soundtracked your walk to work way back in February.

Check out their top ten below…

10 Washed Out – “Feel It All Around”

09 Girls – “Lust for Life”

08 Phoenix – “Lisztomania”

07 Big Boi [Feat. Gucci Mane] – “Shine Blockas”

06 Yeah Yeah Yeahs – “Zero”

05 Grizzly Bear – “Two Weeks”

04 Bat For Lashes – “Daniel”

03 Phoenix – “1901”

02 Dirty Projectors – “Stillness Is the Move”

01 Animal Collective – “My Girls”
