In the interests of ‘understanding young people’, Pedestrian’s cultural anthropology unit camped outside a certain hotel in Sydney last week to test One Directioners’ knowledge of former teen idols like Jonathan Taylor Thomas, Luke Perry and Jason Priestley.
You know, formerly iconic mid-90s dreamboats and one-time Smash Hits centerfolds who most English speaking people should know or at least recognise. Or so we thought. Turns out we know less about young people than they do about Orange County, OG boy bands or the body of water outside Dawson’s house and the only thing more alarming than a two storey One Direction shrine is a fourteen year old who has no idea who Kurt Cobain is. Time to revise the curriculum people!
