NYC’s Met Opera Evacuated After Sus White Powder Is Thrown In Orchestra Pit

New York‘s iconic Metropolitan Opera House was evacuated on Saturday night, during the interval of a performance, after an audience member threw a suspicious white powder into the orchestra pit.
Police say that the incident occurred just before 5.30pm local time – the performance of Guillaume Tell was cancelled and the building evacuated.
“As a safety precaution, the Met canceled the remainder of the performance to err on the side of appropriate caution,” said a Met spokesman.
Hazmat crews, police and an EMS unit are currently on scene at Lincoln Centre.

NBC New York report the suspect is still at large, while other sources say that at least one person has been taken to hospital following the incident, with their condition unclear.
We’ll check in on the story as it develops.
