Australia’s mum/Sandy in Grease/RuPaul guest judge/beloved national treasure Olivia Newton-John has revealed that she has once again been diagnosed with breast cancer. 🙁 🙁 🙁
In the wake of the news, the 68-year-old singer and Xanadu actor has had to postpone her June North American tour dates. In early May, Newton-John first postponed the early dates of the tour, suffering from back pain.
The cause of the pain was found to be breast cancer which had metastasised to the sacrum, a bone in the lower back.
Newton-John will complete a short course of photon radiation therapy, as well as engaging natural wellness therapies.
“I decided on my direction of therapies after consultation with my doctors and natural therapists and the medical team at my Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre in Melbourne, Australia,” said Newton-John.
In 1992, Newton-John was first diagnosed with breast cancer, undergoing chemotherapy, a partial mastectomy and a breast reconstruction. She has since become a vocal advocate for breast cancer research.
Rescheduled dates will be announced on her website in the coming weeks. We’re sure she’ll be back in her dancing shoes, grooving better than people 50 years her junior, in no time:
