Despite her self-imposed “retirement” or more importantly her pregnancy, M.I.A has been announced to perform at the 51st Grammy Awards on Sunday 8th of February. That in itself is barely earth-shattering news, no, what is of more interest is that the Grammys coincide with the exact date she expects to give birth.
An onstage birth would certainly reinvigorate the perennial snooze-fest, but that’s just wishful thinking. Also performing at the Grammys are the likes of Stevie Wonder, Robin Thick, Terence Blanchard, Allen Toussaint Rihanna, Radiohead, Coldplay, Katy Perry, Paul McCartney (backed on drums by Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl), Adele, Jennifer Hudson, Estelle, Taylor Swift, Chris Brown, Justin Timberlake, Jonas Brothers, Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, T.I., Kanye West and U2.
