Lana Del Rey Releases Heartfelt Song About America’s Mass Shooting Epidemic

Lana Del Rey is releasing her long-awaited new album Norman Fucking Rockwell in late August. Earlier this week, however, the singer took to Instagram to reveal she had written an all-new song in response to the mass-shootings that claimed dozens of lives in America last weekend.

“Hi folks came back early from Montecito with my brother this morning and asked Jack Antonoff to come into town because I had a song on my mind that I wanted to write,” she said in the caption to a recent Instagram post.

“Now I know I’m not a politician and I’m not trying to be so excuse me for having an opinion,” she said, “but in light of all of the mass shootings and the back to back shootings in the last couple of days which really affected me on a cellular level I just wanted to post this video.”

At the time, she shared a studio version of ‘Looking For America‘, and overnight she released the finished recording. In it, she sings that she is looking for a version of America “without the gun, where the flag can freely fly. No bombs in the sky, only fireworks when you and I collide.”

Proceeds from the song will go to Gilroy Garlic Festival victims relief fund, as well as the El Paso community relief fund and the Dayton Foundation.
