A thing that was absolutely bound to happen and was only a matter of time, but some of the world’s biggest artists have banded together for a massive virtual concert that’ll be beamed into your house this month. We’ve seen online festivals and streamed sets from some of our fave bands from around the traps both at home and across the oceans, and now we’re gonna cop a bloody ‘yuge one on April 19.
Curated by Lady Gaga and hosted by the Jimmys and Stephen (Fallon, Kimmel, Colbert) One World: Together At Home will be beamed across the world from 1pm AEST (so 8pm Pacific Time) on Sunday, April 19, and feature appearances from Billie Eilish, Green Day‘s Billie Joe Armstrong, Burna Boy, Alanis Morissette, Idris & Sabrina Elba, Keith Urban, Lizzo, Kacey Musgraves, FINNEAS, Stevie Wonder, J Balvin, and a whole chunk more.
Christ almighty would you look at that lineup. Hoo BOY.
The bloody huge musical smorgasbord follows a whole string of live-streamed performances that different artists have done for the Together At Home series, which has been a very nice way to try and ease the heartache of No Live Gigs In 2020.
The One World broadcast is also actively supporting the World Health Organisation and all the healthcare workers pulling insane hours to work the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic across the globe, and is actively encouraging people to pledge to stay at home and support local orgs that are doing critical work to help people affected by coronavirus.
From what I can tell, One World will be streamed on a whole bunch of channels like CBS, ABC, and NBC in the US and BBC Music in the UK, and internationally through YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, Twitter, Amazon Prime, and other spots. If this is not the perfect time to set up a separate laptop with House Party or something streaming so you can makeshift a moshpit and/or dancefloor with a bunch of mates in their own houses, I don’t know what is.
