Lady Gaga Calls To End The Kanye Jokes Amid His Mental Health Concerns

It has been a darn tragedy watching the reactions to Kanye West‘s recent hospitalisation roll in.

There’s no denying he’s a contentious bloke, and recent rants during the Saint Pablo tour – which included a pro-Trump tirade and not-so subtle disses thrown at peak power-couple / longtime mates Jay Z and Beyoncé – took many people off guard.
With that recent background, it seems one of the main knee-jerk reactions on social media has been to mock, criticise, and laugh at ‘Ye. That’s very much not cool; he is just a flawed human – much like we all are – and it is so important to be supportive of people attempting to address their mental health issues.
Lady Gaga is the latest celebrity to recognise that fact and to stand by Yeezy. Joining the ranks of Chance the RapperJohn Legend and Marlon Wayans, Gaga took to Twitter to call out those who had been making Kanye gags, and to offer her support during this time:

FWIW, Gaga has always endeavoured to use her platform as a space to advocate for empowerment and alliance. She is an outspoken LGBT advocate and even has her own initiative, the Born This Way Foundation, which focuses on building confidence in young people and interrogating the vicious cycle of bullying.
With her latest message, Gaga once again touches on something pretty crucial: whether or not you think Kanye’s a dick has no bearing on how you should treat him in moments when he could be legitimately vulnerable owing to mental health concerns.
Props to the inimitable Lady G for being the best, always.
