Kendrick Lamar Just Dropped The Title And Artwork For His New Album On Instagram

Timing is everything, and never underestimate the value of surprise.

That’s more or less the mantra for a modern working musician. Control your information, don’t let your information control you. And always, always keep the people guessing.
Kendrick Lamar is gearing up for the release of his third studio album – his first since 2012’s Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City. But despite the fact that release day is scarily close – it’s slated to be unleashed on March 23rd – scant details about its makeup have been heard.
Hell, we don’t even know what the album itself is going to be called. That is until today.
Eschewing the usual kind of marketing campaign involving album teasers and promotional material sent out well ahead of time, Kendrick has kept details of the album under tight wraps. And today he finally revealed the title and cover artwork for the looming album.

Although it’s seemingly still reasonably vague, the caps in the caption lean towards suggesting that “To Pimp A Butterfly” will be the name of the album. Top Dawg confirmed as much in a subsequent Instagram post.
To Pimp A Butterfly, as it henceforth shall be known, comes out on March 23rd. Awwwww yiss.
