Australian Idol alumni and all around radiant angel Jessica Mauboy has been announced as the Australian delegate to the 59th Eurovision Karaoke Contest, screening live from Copenhagen on May 10th.
According to SBS, Mauboy’s appearance marks the first time Australia has been represented as a guest at the annual rock eisteddfod. She’ll perform an original composition during the intermission of the second semi-final in front of an international TV audience estimated to include more than 180 million viewers; she’ll also be the first solo artist from a non-European Union country to do so.
Per reports yesterday, the local broadcaster will be responsible for delivering the ole razzle dazzle after meeting with Eurovision’s Mikkel Bech: “They will come up here with a huge display of all possible senses that represent what Australia is. They are going to work visually with what Europe means to them and what Australia means to us in Europe, so it is going to be big and spectacular – and it is going to involve a lot of humour.”
