Jennifer Aniston Will Play Country Singer (Not a Rom-Com)

In a shocking turn of a events, Jennifer Aniston has announced that she will star in a film which isn’t a rom-com. [Insert Macaulay Culkin Home Alone face]

After parodying the genre three years ago on Saturday Night Live, The queen of insufferable, mediocre romantic-comedy will portray a member of the The Goree Girls – a kooky, offbeat group of Texas singers who form a Country Western band while doing time in prison, eventually being pardoned for their talents. (It’s definitely a real movie)

The script, which has been doing the rounds since 2007, has recently lured in the likes of Kelly Rowland, Pam Tillis and Ellen Pompeo – all are signed onto co-star alongside Jen.

This is an exciting step for Aniston, who has been desperate to shed her typecast and tackle something a little bit more …challenging. The most concerning element would have to be Jen’s commitment to sing in the film. Way back in 2009 Aniston opened up her lungs on Ellen, in what was considered a less-than-convincing performance.

Aniston is on the cusp of being country strong like Gwyneth Paltrow. But can she pull it off, or will she be country weak and return to one dimensional cinema.
