The thing you always knew would happen has finally happened thanks to Californian indie pop duo Pomplamoose, who’ve made the inevitable internet burning mash up between Carly Rae Jepsen’s ubiquitous Summer hit “Call Me Maybe” and Sir Wally’s inescapable break up ballad “Somebody That I Used To Know”. The resulting mash up – which uses Gotye’s chords and Call Me Maybe’s lyrics in the verses and the inverse in the chorus – is surprisingly awesome despite the songs’ incongruous subject matter and very real potential for code red intolerability levels. This should be embedded in a digital time capsule so future generations know what 2012 sounded like.
