Carles, the enigmatic founder of hilarious cultural satire site Hipster Runoff, announced this morning that he’s received a new job offer and will be giving up blogging.
The statement reads:
“I think I’ve accomplished everything I wanted to with this project. I can’t imagine myself blogging about anything else ever again because I feel like I have already blogged about everything and I am just a slave to boring alt memes. It’s probably time to move on and find a real career & some challenges that can actually make the world a better place.
Thanks for the memories. We had a good run. I apologize to every one who I have hurt.

Hipster Runoff’s mysterious editor has threatened to pull the plug before, so time will tell whether this is a hoax or not. The site, which has been in existence for about 5 years, leaves no stone unturned and has taken swipes at everyone from Kanye West to Arcade Fire and through to sacred scenesters like Steve Aoki and Cobrasnake and even Radiohead. It started off as a blogspot (remember those?) and retains the ability to gleefully use low-budget picture editors (read: Microsoft Paint) and bold text to poke fun at absolutely anyone who dares to walk near a limelight.
All we know is, without HR, we’d never be able to drop words like ‘alt’, ‘chill-wave’ and ‘relevant’ into regular conversation. It’s pretty much the funniest site on the Internet, hands down, and there’s more content than anyone could possibly read in a day, or even a week.
RIP Carles. We hope Google pays you heaps.
