The Black Keys already released a video for ‘Gold On The Ceiling’ but that hasn’t stopped them from teaming up with auteur provocateur de rigeur of the sewer, Harmony Korine, for a GIF-laden retake on the track that’s pretty creepy to say the least.
Patrick Carney and Dan Auerbach don pastel-coloured onesies or hospital scrubs and attach themselves to miniature/giant baby versions of themselves, or ‘Baby Twinz’, and I actually can’t tell which are the real Black Keys anymore (the smaller versions are the real ones, yes?) Combined with the technical difficulties of Korine’s VHS schtick and all that entails, plus a cameo by the psychoanalyst’s wet dream, the ATL Twins, the second ‘Gold On The Ceiling’ video enters a pantheon of unsettling that already includes Kids, Gummo and Trash Humpers, but has less #fashion and poeticism than his previous work with Proenza Schouler, so now you know I’m all kinds of upset and needing to get off the Internet. Pass the hand sanitizer.
