Gotye & Kimbra Clean Up At The Billboard Music Awards

Another day, another gong for Gotye and Kimbra’s ‘Somebody That I Used To Know,’ which has at the time of writing picked up four miniature billboards (?) at the Billboard Music Awards, including the Top 100 Song, Top Streaming Song (Audio; as opposed to?), Top Radio Song and Top Rock Song.

Other big winners at the awards (there were no winners on the blue carpet) include America’s Throbbing Toothache and imminent showpony Taylor Swift, who can add the following to the human adult-size gilded bird cage she keeps in her bedroom: Top Digital Songs Artist, Top Country Artist, Top Country Song, for ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,’ and Top Country Album, for Red

Maroon 5 and fun., like Swifty, are also nominated for 11 awards because young people love fun and Adam Levine’s unmistakably wholesome personal brand.

Finalists and winners at the BBMAs are based on album and digital singles sales, radio airplay, touring, streaming and social media interactions on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, VEVO, Spotify and their frenemies.
